Friends and neighbors,

We’re a week into Sizzle, which means there’s still plenty of September left to make good on all those menus you bookmarked. Last week I covered some of the newer restaurants; this week I went back for the deals. A $21 Turkish dinner, Nemo’s sea bass for $34 and a surprisingly good $29 lunch on Venetian Bay all made my list.

Then, bread. Landert has been supplying European breads and pastries to Naples restaurants, hotels and country clubs since 2012, and opened a retail shop of its own in 2025. If you’ve eaten around town for any length of time, there’s a decent chance you’ve already had some without knowing it.

Hope you find some inspiration for a good meal or two.

Thank you,

5 Ways to Make the Most of Sizzle: Deals & Crowd Favorites

Last week, I covered six of the newer restaurants participating in Sizzle. This week is for good deals and places you may already know. September is a good time to revisit an old favorite, order the dish you always get for less or finally try the place you usually save for an occasion.

Here are five I’d keep in mind before the month gets away from us.

PJK: Dinner Downtown for $33

A $33 dinner a block off Fifth is getting harder to come by. PJK gives you three courses, with pork dumplings, coconut shrimp and spicy tuna among the starters and six choices for dinner. I’d order the Dan Dan noodles, then finish with apple-pineapple wontons and vanilla gelato.

Clay Pot: The $21 Outlier

Clay Pot is easy to drive past on Tamiami Trail, in the plaza by Chesterdales. For $21, you get a starter and an entrée, including braised beef shank with bone marrow, manti and Turkish beef moussaka. Start with the red lentil soup. This may be the best $21 I found in all the Sizzle menus.

U.S.S. Nemo: The $34 Sea Bass Lunch

Nemo regulars probably don’t need me to tell them about the miso sea bass. What you should know is that during Sizzle, the $29 lunch includes Hot & Crunchy Grouper Bites, and the sea bass is just a $5 upgrade. Grouper bites and sea bass for $34. That’s hard to improve upon.

M Waterfront Grille: Lunch on Venetian Bay for $29

For $29, M Waterfront lets you choose two courses from a menu that includes crab cakes, Scottish salmon, chicken Milanese and a prime-rib French dip with Gruyère. Dessert can be your second course, too. I’d get the French dip and coconut-cream doughnut holes, preferably outside.

The Bay House: Add the Lobster

The Bay House served nearly 3,000 Sizzle meals last year, so this one is hardly a secret. The $49 dinner includes churrasco steak and braised lamb shank, but another $10 gets you lobster frites: a split grilled lobster tail, fries and béarnaise. September is also a particularly nice time for a table on the Cocohatchee before the season gets going again.

The European Bread You May Have Already Eaten

Landert Bread has been in Naples since 2012, although for most of that time you couldn't simply walk in and buy a loaf. The family-owned company imports European breads and pastries for hotels, country clubs, restaurants and specialty food stores around South Florida. In March of 2025, it finally opened its first retail shop on Domestic Avenue.

Everything is produced in Europe and baked here, and the selection gets well beyond the usual baguette. Look for PurPur bread, made with 42% ancient purple wheat, rustic seeded rolls and ciabatta, along with French butter croissants, pastries and cakes. The baguettes come from outside Paris, while founder Jürg Landert is Swiss, so the shelves wander around Europe a bit.

After 10 a.m., there are deli sandwiches made with European meats and cheeses. The shop keeps limited weekday hours, so this is one to plan rather than stumble upon. If you already know Landert from the Vanderbilt Farmers Market, this is where to find the larger selection during the week.

You May End Up Spending More Time Here Than at the Beach. 🌴

The beach and Fifth Avenue South are close. But this 4-bedroom Naples home gives you plenty of reasons to stay put.

💦 Heated waterfall pool
🔥 Fire pit for the evening
🥭 Mango trees + huge fenced yard
🐾 Pet-friendly
🛶 Kayaks + paddleboards nearby
🛏️ 4 bedrooms

Swim in the afternoon, grill dinner outside, let the dog run around, then sit by the fire pit after dark.

It is the kind of place where one afternoon at the house can easily turn into the part of the trip everyone remembers.

Poll Results: Dinner Rez?

Last week we asked: Which of these newer restaurants is at the top of your Sizzle list?

Here’s where you landed:

Blackbird topped out our poll with 20% of the votes, edging out Estia and Heyday Cookshop in second and third place, respectively. There are so many wonderful new spots it is hard to choose. Be sure to make reservations early for Blackbird—you’ll be in good company. Thank you for all the responses!

Why It Matters

September is one of those months when Naples feels a little easier to enjoy. Sizzle gives us an excuse to try a restaurant we have been meaning to visit, while places like Landert remind us that some of the best finds around town are hiding in plain sight.

So pick a menu, bring someone hungry, and maybe leave room in the car for a loaf of bread on the way home.

See you next week,
