The Friday Scoop

One more thing you should know before the weekend: one of our favorite Italian restaurants has more than one good reason to go this month.

Limoncello is a classic Italian-American joint that gets points for good food, attentive service and being relatively reasonable for Naples dining. With white tablecloths, frescoes on the walls, and live music, it’s decidedly stuck in a different time, which is part of the appeal.

From 4–5 p.m. daily, the limited early dinner is $27.95 for two courses. And “limited” isn't particularly punitive here. Start with short-rib arancini, eggplant parmigiana, Caesar salad or soup; entrées include homemade tagliatelle Bolognese, cacio e pepe, chicken parmigiana, cod puttanesca and tagliolini with shrimp and basil pesto. House wine and draft beer are $5.

If 4 p.m. dinner remains a bridge too far, September brings another option. Limoncello’s $59 Sizzle menu is three courses and considerably more elaborate. The choices include ahi tuna crudo with finger lime pearls, homemade spaghetti alla Nerano with red shrimp tartare, and porcini risotto with scallops and shaved black truffle. Dessert is pistachio semifreddo or lemon tiramisu.

Between the two, Limoncello has managed to cover both schools of Naples summer dining: those perfectly happy to eat dinner at 4 p.m. for a bargain, and those who absolutely are not.

🌴 The House That Could Become the Itinerary

You come to Naples for the beach, the restaurants, and the water.

Then you check into a house with a heated waterfall pool, huge private yard, mango trees, covered lanai, BBQ, kayak access, and room for the dog — and suddenly staying in starts sounding pretty good.

Why this one caught our eye

  • ☕ Morning: coffee outside, then a swim before anyone has to agree on a plan.

  • 🛶 Afternoon: kayaks, pool time, or let the kids and dog take over the yard.

  • 🔥 Evening: grill dinner, open a bottle of wine, and stay outside until everyone decides they’re done.

And when you do want to head out, you’re still close to the beach, dining, and everything else Naples does well.

The setup

  • 🛏️ 4 bedrooms

  • 💦 Heated waterfall pool

  • 🐾 Pet-friendly

  • 🛶 Kayak access

  • 🌳 Huge fenced yard

  • 🌴 Covered lanai

  • 🔥 BBQ

This is the kind of rental that gives a group something most vacations run short on: options.

Poll Results: The Naples Meals That Turn Into an Outing 🍽️

Last week, we asked: Which Naples meal are you most likely to turn into a long, leisurely outing?

Brunch came out on top with 19.36% of the vote, with lunch close behind at 18.79%. Other followed at 17.92%, while breakfast brought in 16.47%. Dinner landed at 13.87%, and happy hour rounded things out at 13.58%.

Naples gives you plenty of reasons to linger over a meal, but readers gave the slight edge to brunch, which feels about right for a place where coffee can easily turn into another round and nobody is in much of a hurry.

This Week’s Poll: Long weekends?

Why It Matters

Naples weekends don’t always need a big plan. Sometimes the best ones come together around a good meal, a place worth lingering, and enough flexibility to let the day stretch a little longer than expected.

Whether that means an early dinner at Limoncello, brunch that turns into an afternoon, or a rental where staying in feels just as appealing as going out, the common thread is simple: the best weekends usually leave room for both.

See you next week,
