The Friday Scoop

One more thing you should know before the weekend: Unidos is opening for lunch.
Starting in September, the downtown restaurant will open Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. That's a notable change for Unidos, which currently doesn't open until 4 p.m. The restaurant's menu pulls from across Latin America, particularly Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Mexico.
The timing is good. Sizzle Dining starts September 1, so Unidos will spend its first month of lunch service offering a $29 two-course menu. The ropa vieja tostones sound particularly good: crispy plantains topped with slow-braised beef, avocado crema and Cotija. There's also a catch of the day with plantain and potato purée and passion fruit butter sauce, and an American Wagyu burger with provolone, bacon and red-wine-braised onions.
Dinner gets a $52 three-course Sizzle menu, with dishes including corvina and octopus in rocoto leche de tigre and house-made fettuccine in huancaína sauce with shrimp and portobello mushrooms flambéed with pisco. Dessert is a sweet corn and chocolate cake with banana custard, cookie crumble and charred corn.

Both Sizzle menus run September 1- 30, and $1 from every Sizzle meal sold benefits Blessings in a Backpack SWFL. For anyone curious about Unidos, or for those who are already fans, the new $29 lunch makes September an opportune time to go.

This Is Where the Naples Plans Get Flexible
You can spend the morning at the beach, grab lunch on Fifth Avenue South, and paddle the Gordon River.
Then you come back to a heated waterfall pool, mango trees, a covered lanai, and a huge private yard, and suddenly the rest of the day has no agenda.
There’s room for the whole group, including the dog, plus a grill for dinner and enough outdoor space to make staying in feel like the better plan.
HEATED POOL · 4 BEDROOMS · PET-FRIENDLY
HUGE YARD · BBQ · KAYAK ACCESS
It’s close to everything you came to Naples for. The only problem is deciding whether you actually want to leave the house.

Why It Matters
A nice little Friday note to head into the weekend with.
If Unidos has been on your list, September looks like a good time to finally go. Lunch is new, Sizzle gives you an easy excuse, and that ropa vieja tostones order already sounds like the move.
As always, if you try it, reply and tell me what you ordered. I’m always looking for the next place worth sharing.
Have a great weekend,
